Upcoming Themed Days

Join YOUR San Antonio Zoo as we celebrate special themed days nearly every month.  During each of the days listed below, we will have activities and crafts from 10am - 2pm in the Nature Spot and throughout the Zoo that are centered around each theme.


April 6th: Get OUT and PLAY Day.   Learn about the benefits of playing outdoors, participate in nature-related play activities, and get to know some of the amazing natural sites in the San Antonio area!  Participating organizations include Texas Parks and Wildlife, San Antonio Natural Areas, B-cycle, the University of the Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake University, and more!

April 27th: Party for the Planet/World Tapir Day. Come celebrate Earth day and World Tapir day with the zoo for our annual Party for the Planet!  Spend the day creating art out of natural materials, learning how to reduce your carbon footprint, and getting your face painted.  We’ll also be celebrating World Tapir Day, so be sure and stop by our favorite tapir, Cruz, where you’ll have a chance to learn all about these amazing animals.

May 11th: International Migratory Bird Day.  Activities will include games, face painting, keeper talks, live bird presentations, and guided tours of our birds.

 

May 25th: Hippo Day. Come help us celebrate our Zoo’s Hippo birthday party! Enjoy fun games, face painting, keeper talks, and volunteer hippo presentations. 

 

June 8th: World Oceans Day. Join YOUR San Antonio Zoo as we partner with AZA and The Ocean Project to celebrate World Oceans Day!  We will have activities throughout the zoo that develop awareness and encourage the protection of our ocean and its inhabitants. 

June 29th: Mud Day-only in the Nature Spot.  Help us celebrate International Mud Day in the Nature Spot!  We will be making mud soup, going on a mud bug hunt, running in a mud race, and many more activities.  Don’t forget to bring a towel and a change of clothes!
