Off grounds adventure for families
with children
in 3rd grade and up

Carpooling from the Zoo's train station parking lot at 8:30
Cost per person: $10;
Includes entrance fee into the park.
Families, join Zoo staff for an amazing adventure on the
trails of Government Canyon State Natural Area. Meet
with a Texas Parks and Wildlife urban biologist who will
share stories and information about native Texas wildlife. Then explore the trails looking for signs of wildlife while identifying various tress species along the way. Learn
how important Government Canyon State Natural Area
is to the Edwards Aquifer recharge Zone.

Enchanted Evening Tours
Sept. 21 - Family Tour - 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Oct. 20 - Adults Only - 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Come see where the wild things are in the quiet

the evenings. Zoo staff will take you on an
after-hours
tour where you might even get a
chance to hear the
hyena’s “laugh” and the lions roar.

time Parent's Choice winner, will turn
the Go Wild area of the Nature Spot into
a jump-up and dance experience as he
performs The Anaconda La Bamba and

Board our chartered bus at the Zoo's train station parking lot for an 8:30 AM departure to Rockport. Snacks and educational

three hour boat ride
through the beautiful
back bays, rookery and
barrier islands watching
for whooping cranes
and other birds. Cost
includes transportation,
snacks, lunch, entry fees
and the expected return to the Zoo
is around 8:00pm
Tiny Tot Adventures Campouts
Families with children ages 3 to 5

Have your tots experienced sleeping under the
stars, roasting hot dogs over an open fire, and
searching for animals by flashlight? If not, now is
a great time to introduce the family to camping,
Tiny Tot style! We'll pitch tents in the grassy area,
visit with other kids and families around the
campfire, experience up-close encounters with
program animals and look for nocturnal animals
around the Zoo. Program includes dinner and a
light breakfast. Tent rental is available for
$20/ tent. Advance registration required.

Family Roars and Snores

Cost: $35/Members, $45/NonMembers
Bring your sleeping bag, cot and sense of adventure for a night of family fun. We'll begin the evening with an upclose look at some of the Zoo's presentation animals followed by an activity to discover what the owl ate for dinner. Nothing beats a tour of the Zoo in the dark, searching for nocturnal animals and wild beasts on the prowl. We'll bed down in the Education Center until morning brings a continental breakfast and a special visit by the Bird Department. A brief morning tour will end the program, but memories of this special evening will remain. Advance registration required.
