Volunteer Opportunities
Become a docent—The Zoo's year round adult volunteer program. Come to our next docent open house April 10th, 2010. Interested applicants should:

• Be at least 18 years of age.

• Like to talk to Zoo guests.

• Have a love for learning and teaching.

• Enjoy working outdoors.

• Be able to commit to a 7 week training session.

• Be able to at volunteer at least 6 hours a month.

 

The Zoo is also looking for College Interns in the Following Departments!

• Animal Care—many different available positions.

• Communications and Public Speaking.

• Marketing and Special Events.

• Education.

• Graphics.

• Library.

 

Openings also exist for teens in the Zoo's summer naturalist and summer cmap team programs. Interested teen applicants should:

• Be 14 - 18 years of age.

• Commit to at least 2 full weeks during the summer.

• Be able to work in a team atmosphere.

• Attend training and orientation sessions.

 

Summer Naturalists - are youth volunteers who assist the Education Department by doing educational presentations and activities throughout the busy summer months. Teens interested in this program must be interested in speaking directly with the public.

 

Summer Camp - volunteers assist the Education Department with the summer camp programs for ages 4 - 14 years of age. Camp volunteers help by facilitating crafts, preparing and cleaning up classrooms and helping instructors tour the campers in the Zoo.
