The following is a list of tips to help you plan your visit to the Zoo
Beginning Saturday, March 16th and 17th, additional parking for Zoo guests will be available at the SAWS parking garage located on St. Mary’s Street across from Bombay Bicycle Club. Parking at the SAWS garage is available on WEEKENDS ONLY when available, and is on a first come first served basis. Parking for the SAWS garage is $5.00.
Avoid parking hassles by arriving early. The parking lot near the Train Depot is free.
We accept all major credit cards and cash.
Members, be sure to bring your membership card and photo ID.
Take advantage of the Members' Express Entrance.
Members can visit the Zoo as early as 7:30 a.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Avoid lines by coming early or late in the day.
While you're looking at the animals, please remember to keep an eye on your little ones.
Check out the What’s Happening section of your map to find out when and where the Keeper Connections are.
Make a plan – talk to your group about where to meet if you get separated. Help your children identify who to ask for assistance.
Take frequent snack and drink breaks—use your map to find the nearest concession stand.
Stop by the gift shop for all your sun protection needs. We carry hats, visors, and sunscreen.
If you plan for your children to swim at the beach area in The Nature Spot, don’t forget to bring swim diapers and a towel.
Please don’t allow your children to climb on the various animal statues around the Zoo, as these metal surfaces become very hot throughout the day.
Feeding of the animals is not permitted except in designated areas. Lory nectar is available for purchase at the concession stand across from Lory Landing. You may also want to bring quarters to purchase fish food from the machines found throughout the Zoo, as well as penny pressers, moldaramas, footsie's and mini-melts.
The Zoo is a casual, family-oriented environment. We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for the Zoo. Ensuring that the zoo is family friendly is an important part of the Zoo experience. In that spirit, we ask you to use discretion & common sense.
For the safety of Zoo guests and our exotic animal collection, the following is not allowed on Zoo grounds:
No pets
No glass containers
No alcohol
No balloons
No skates
No bicycles
No smoking
No ice chests but small 6-pack size, soft-sided coolers are fine.
