Membership Salesperson (Seasonal)

NATURE OF WORK

Effective immediately there is an opening for Membership Salesperson. Starting pay is $6.30 per hour. The Membership Salesperson is responsible for selling Zoo memberships on Zoo grounds to increase membership sales during the spring and summer season. This position will use excellent customer-service skills to sell memberships, process paperwork, and be responsible for cash handling.  This person will mainly be working outside.  The Membership Salesperson reports to the Development Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.
• Constantly exhibit a customer service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in visitor comfort and service.
• Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist visitors with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo.  Address the visitor - do not wait to be asked.
• Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.
• Promote membership program through on-site sales.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the membership program.
• Accurately handle and properly account for large sums of cash, checks, and credit card sales, and complete daily cash reports.
• Provide excellent customer-service and sales support.
• Handle customer service membership inquiries and complaints.
• Support guest relations, receptionist, and data-entry procedures for membership.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Excellent oral communications skills.
• Knowledge of general English and mathematics.
• Computer skills preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
• High School graduate or GED certificate.
• No history of larceny or theft.
