Africa Live! Opens

The San Antonio Zoo proudly announces the grand opening of its newest and biggest exhibit Africa Live! this Sunday, January 20th.

This Sunday, the journey of Africa Live! begins, as visitors trek through a river wash with incredible close-up views of hippopotamus and Nile crocodiles. Imagine a view into Africa’s Semlike River, where colorful African cichlids from Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi swim the banks of the river. Witness an African lungfish and a giant bullfrog lingering along the path, while a green mamba, Gabon viper, and banded Egyptian cobra await their next meal. Giant elephant shrews can be seen rapidly moving through their exhibit foraging for food.

Modeled after an actual street market in equatorial Africa, the Nanyuki Market, the Zoo’s newest gift shop, offers authentic African artifacts. And, appease your appetite at our newly renovated Riverview restaurant. Africa Live! is an experience visitors will remember for a lifetime.
