PARTY FOR THE PLANET AT THE SAN ANTONIO ZOO

San Antonio, TX –The San Antonio Zoo is hosting Party for the Planet, an Earth Day event, on Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For the regular price of Zoo admission, visitors will learn how to reduce waste and pollution and how to conserve our Earth’s limited resources.

The Zoo’s Party for the Planet celebration will feature fun and engaging activities at several interactive stations around the bear exhibits area. Get helpful hints and ideas on how to set up a wildlife friendly backyard, make a fun and interesting toad abode, tips on butterfly gardening, an amazing backyard bats party, and learn how to use some pesticide-free home remedies at the Natural Insect Control station. In addition, the local Audubon Society will feature many conservation programs and events taking place within the community.

The newly formed San Antonio Zoo Green Team will demonstrate some of the fundamentals on how to arrange a compost center. Also, Jennifer Getman, Bat Conservation International representative and author will be selling and autographing her new children’s book called “Batty About Bats.”  And, don’t miss the 3:00 p.m. puppet show, which will take place in the Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Nature Spot campground area.
