Truck Driver – Waste Management (PT)

Nature of Work

Effective immediately a Waste Management Driver position (starting pay $8.00/hr.) is available in the Maintenance Department. The Waste Management Driver is responsible for operation of a refuse/recycling collection vehicle in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The Waste Management Driver transports refuse/recyclable materials to appropriate sites. The Waste Management Driver reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.
• Constantly exhibit a customer service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in visitor comfort and service.
• Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist visitors with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo. Address the visitor - do not wait to be asked.
• Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.
• Inspecting vehicle to ensure proper mechanical functioning and prepares it for daily use.
• Collects refuse/recyclable materials on assigned routes and transports to appropriate sites.
• Cleans truck daily - when used.
• Operates Bobcat with all attachments.
• Safely operating 4 speed and 5 speed commercial vehicles.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
• High school diploma or GED certification.
• Ability to safely operate assigned vehicles.
• At least one year of experience operating 4 speed and 5 speed commercial vehicles.
• Ability to safely maneuver a 6-yard dump truck in tight areas.
• A class C or better driver’s license.
• A clean driving record and proof of insurability..
