Visitor Tips

General InformationVolunteer Opportunities

The following is a list of tips to help you
better enjoy your visit:

  • Avoid parking hassles by arriving
    early.  Parking is free.
  • We accept all major credit cards and
    cash.
  • Members, be sure to bring your
    membership card and photo ID.
  • Members, take advantage of the
    Member’s Express Entrance.
  • Members, remember you visit the
Zoo as early as 7:30 a.m. from
    Memorial Day to Labor Day.
  • Avoid lines by coming early or late in
    the day.
  • While you're looking at the animals,
keep an eye out for the little ones
    running around your feet.
  • Check out the What’s Happening
section of your map to find out when
    and where the Keeper Connections
    are.
  • Make a plan – talk to your group
about where to meet if you get separated, and help your children to know who to ask for assistance.
  • Take frequent snack and drink breaks—use your map to find the nearest concession stand.
  • Stop by the gift shop for all your sun protection needs.  We carry hats, visors, and sunscreen.
  • If you are planning on swimming at the beach area in The Nature Spot, don’t forget to bring swim diapers for your little ones and a towel.
  • Please don’t allow your children to climb on the various animal statues around the Zoo, as these metal surfaces become very hot throughout the day.
  • Feeding of the animals is not permitted except in designated areas.  Loy nectar is available for purchase at the Hippo Concession Stand.  You may also want to bring quarters to purchase fish food from the machines found throughout the Zoo.
