Wild Opportunities

Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering with the San Antonio Zoo! If you are passionate about animals and conservation then volunteering for the Zoo will be a fulfilling experience. The Zoo is open 365 days a year so our volunteer opportunities are flexible.

The San Antonio Zoo does not accept community service, court appointed or short term volunteers.

Volunteer Calendar Highlights

Youth Volunteer (age 14-18)

ZooTEAM Volunteers must participate in Summer Camp or Summer Naturalist before selection will be considered.

Summer Camp and Summer Naturalist Volunteer application
deadline is April 27, 2015


Docent interviews will take place November-December.

Applications are always accepted.
Training for new docents begins in January.

All interviews for all volunteer opportunities will be conducted at the Education Center.


Fall Internship application deadline is September 1, 2015.

Winter/Spring Internship application deadline is February 1, 2015.

Summer Naturalist Internship application deadline is March 9, 2015.

For all other Summer Internships application deadline is May 1, 2015.

Corporate or Military Group Volunteers

Need is periodic.
